Shelly Moore, 54, of Hood County, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018.  Service: 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 17, 2018, Wiley Funeral Home Chapel, Granbury, Interment: Miller – Trotter Cemetery, Waples, Visitation: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Monday, July 16, 2018, Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury. 

Shelly was born on February 2, 1964 in Springdale, Arkansas to Leon and Donna Trotter.  She married Ann Godi on May 7, 2016 at their home in Hood County.  Shelly and Ann met at Cracker Barrel, where Shelly was Ann’s trainer.  Shelly’s love of grilling and cooking enabled her to train Ann to be a good cook, with Ann finally mastering dumplings.

Shelly was generous, fierce and devoted to her family.  She was very spiritual and loved Jesus.  She strongly believed in peace, love and happiness.

Shelly loved spending time outdoors; camping, fishing, and loved travelling to Colorado especially Pikes Peak.  She was also a die-hard Green Bay Packers Fan.  She was preceded in death by her dad: Leon Trottter, grandmother: Virginia Keller, grandfather: Ray Davis, aunt: Vicki Stacks, and brother-in-law: James Godi.

Shelly is survived by her wife: Ann Moore, children: Michael Martin and wife Brittney, Shannon Moore and boyfriend Marvin Morales, Christian Godi, and Samuel Hummel, grandchildren: Braylee Martin, Silas Martin, Aubrey Martin and Avery Martin, mother: Donna Roby, siblings: Wayne Trotter, Speedy Trotter, Shawna Mejias and husband Dwight, and Scooter Negrete, mother-in-law: Paula Godi, and three nieces and four nephews.


John Gonzalez

John Gonzalez, 63, of Granbury, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018. Visitation: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Thursday, July 19, 2018, Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury.

John was born on August 17, 1954 in Goliad, Texas to Frank and Louisa Gonzalez. He was quite charming and always took pride in his appearance. He had a great sense of humor and was known for being a jokester.  John was known to be very lucky with lottery scratch – off tickets.

John loved being around horses and shined shoes at the race track just to be around them. He learned to train horses and became a professional. He worked at Gross Pointe Stud Farm for over 15 years and at Lorraine Horse Transport for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joe Gonzales.

John is survived by his daughter: Stephanie McKibbin and husband David; granddaughters: Alexis McKibbin and Taylor McKibbin; siblings: Frank Gonzales Jr., Dan Gonzales, Bobby Gonzales, Yolanda Campbell, Rene Gonzales and JoAnn Gonzales and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Nora Marie Eberhart Porter

Nora Marie Eberhart Porter, 91, of Granbury, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 16, 2018. A celebration of life for family and friends will be planned later this year.

Nora was born on October 9, 1926 near Rock Church, Texas to Allen and Aziline (Freeman) Eberhart. She was married for 63 years to the love of her life, Garth until he passed away in 2009. She was devoted to her family and was a wonderful daughter, mama and granny.

As a young woman Nora worked as a secretary for the Soil Conservation Service until her children were born, then she stayed home to raise them and be a homemaker. When her children were teenagers she went back to work and was Hood County Judge Milton Myer’s administrative assistant for many years. She enjoyed her career and made many wonderful friends. 

Nora loved reading, needlepoint, flower gardening and cooking. Her specialty was baking pies and cobblers. She also enjoyed spending time with her sweet dog Hamlet.  Nora was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Garth Albert Porter; son: Jason Garth Porter; sisters: Roxie Spurlock and Velma Underwood and baby brother: Baxter Eberhart.

Nora is survived by her daughter: Marina Becker and husband David; grandchildren: Brandon Becker, Sarah Becker, Allen Porter, and Graham Porter and wife Samantha and daughter-in-law: Linda Porter Rawlins and husband Bill.

Michael Van Alvey

Michael Van Alvey, 72, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. Graveside service: 10:00 AM, Friday, July 20, 2018, Holly Hills Memorial Park, Visitation: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Thursday, July 19, 2018, Martin’s Funeral Home, Granbury.

Mike was born on November 30, 1945 in Big Spring, Texas to Walter and Geraldine Alvey. He was well liked, popular and a very talented athlete throughout his adolescent years.  Mike proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He attended Texas Tech University.

Mike was a huge sports fan, and the Dallas Cowboys and the Red Raiders were his favorite teams. He was a Nationally Ranked Shuffle Board Player and he loved to play the game. He was also a horse race enthusiast.

Mike owned and operated a real estate appraisal firm in Granbury for over 15 years. He was preceded in death by his father: Walter Alvey; sister: Zana Mayfield and his beloved dog: Blue.

Michael is survived by his daughters: Jodi Fries and husband Toby, and Casey Penn and husband Scott; mother: Geraldine Alvey; brother: Ron Alvey and wife Betty and extended family.

Lois Lajune Oliver

Lois Lajune Oliver, 91, of Granbury, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018. Service: 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 19, 2018, Wiley Funeral Home Chapel, Granbury, Interment: Acton Cemetery, Visitation: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, July 18, 2018, Wiley Funeral Home. 

Lois was born on February 16, 1927 in Oxford, Mississippi to Ernest and Ella (Adams) Sparks. She married Dewey Terrell Oliver Jr. on July 6, 1955 in Folkstone, Georgia.

Lois worked hard on her farm in Hill City. She moved with her family to Granbury in 1971. She enjoyed reading the Bible and having prayer sessions. She also liked to do crafts, cook, and loved to experiment with recipes. She lived in Hawaii for 2 ½ years and always dreamed of going back. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and her son, Stephen Oliver.

Lois is survived by her loving husband of 63 years: Dewey Oliver; sister: Kara Jeanette Hargrove; sister-in-law: Elizabeth Lovell; eight nieces and nephews; fifteen great- nieces and great-nephews and 14 great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

Robert ‘Bob’ William Bostwick

Robert “Bob” William Bostwick, 75, of Granbury, passed away on Sunday July 15, 2018. Services will be private.

Bob was born in Columbus, Ohio to Charles and Lucy Bostwick on June 20, 1943. He married Adelina (Lina) on May 8, 1984. He was a retired veteran and served 30 years in the United States Marine Corps. He was Captain for 20 of those years. He was commended many times for his Exceptional Performance of Duty while serving as a Physical Scientist in Korea and Japan. He was also awarded many times for his Laser Safety and Radiation Protection knowledge. Bob was preceded in death by his parents.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Adelina.

Larry was born on August 18, 1951 in Lubbock, Texas to William and Ethelene (Dyer) Gafford. He married Debbie Lorraine Merritt on August 26, 1972 in Lubbock, Texas. They were married 45 years. Larry was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather, who loved spending time with his granddaughters. He was kin to everyone in Lipan. Larry’s parents, grandparents, great grandparents were all born and raised in Lipan, Texas. Larry had a great sense of humor and was very generous. He loved hunting, fishing and counting deer with his dog Rocky. He was an active member of Church of Christ. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a special aunt: Hazel Stringer of Lipan.

Larry is survived by his loving wife: Debbie Gafford; children: Stephanie Ayala and husband Peter, Brian Gafford, Chris “Critter” Gafford; granddaughters: Ashlea Ayala and Meagan Gafford; brother: Steve Gafford; sister: Pat Wright and husband Ronnie, lots of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends and his companion dog Rocky.

Bob McClinton was born December 9, 1936 to Ewell and Josephine McClinton in Mt. Pleasant, TX. He attended Kilgore Jr. College where he played trumpet in the marching band. Moving on to East Texas State College, Bob graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate in ROTC.

Entering the U.S. Air Force in 1960 and stationed out of Cannon AFB, Clovis, NM, Bob flew the F100 during the Vietnam conflict. Upon returning from multiple tours he met his future wife, Sandi, in Los Angeles in 1967, marrying in 1968.

After Vietnam, Bob returned to Cannon AFB, now flying the F111. Moving his family to Ramstein AFB, Germany in 1974 for 4 years and returning to Cannon AFB for another 2 years, Bob hung up his wings after 20 years of service.

Relocating to Ft. Worth, TX in 1980, Bob settled in with General Dynamics/Lockheed for another 20 years while raising his children in Arlington, TX.

Retirement brought Bob and Sandi to Pecan Plantation, Granbury, TX in 1998. If you spent time with him since then it was most likely on the golf course or at the clubhouse talking about playing golf.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Ewell and Josephine McClinton.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sandi, two sons, Michael (Lisa) and Chris (Adrienne), and his 4 grandchildren, Tanner, Kaitlyn, Avery and Audree.


Andrew Joe ‘AJ’ Pechal

Andrew Joe “AJ” Pechal, 84, formerly of Glen Rose and Granbury, passed away July 19, 2018 at the VA Center in Temple.

Andrew (known as A.J.) was born December 31, 1933 in the Little Flock community in Bell County, Texas to the late William and Rosalie (Hlavaty) Pechal.  He married Linda J. Skipper on May 27, 2000 in Glen Rose.  She preceded him in death on March 5, 2015.

A.J. served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict and was a member of the American Legion Post 0491 in Granbury and SPJST Lodge 24 in Cyclone.  He worked at various jobs, retiring from Maco Manufacturing in Belton in 2000 and then worked with his wife as a child care provider.

Survivors include sisters:  Martha Tomlinson and Margaret (Tom) Gibson and brothers:  Anton (Carole) and Arnold (Frances) Pechal, all of Temple; stepsons:  Tony (Pam) of Iredell, Chris of Glen Rose and Jeremy (Shanna) Skipper of Granbury, 7 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carolyn Lindsey

Carolyn Lindsey, 48, of Granbury, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2018 in Fort Worth. Service: 10 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2018 at Wiley Funeral Home. Interment: Holly Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Carolyn was born March 3, 1970 in Fort Worth to William Max and Molly Money Lindsey. She loved to walk for exercise through Hewlett Park, loved her grandchildren and tried to make fun out of everything. She recently received Jesus Christ as her Savior. Carolyn always had a smile on her face and was a loving, loyal friend.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Survivors: Mother, Molly Wilson; brother, Michael Lindsey and wife Anna Marie; fiancé, Hugo Ramirez; sons, Michael Cross and wife Torey, Lupe Flores and wife Whitney; daughters, Celest Castro, Desiree Castro; grandchildren, Audri Flores, Ryan Flores, Shane Flores, Jazmine Cross; nieces and nephews, Erica Lindsey, Michael Jr Lindsey, Michelle Lindsey, Alex Lindsey; uncle, Billy Lindsey and wife Nancy; many family and friends.

Charles Richard Welch

Charles Richard Welch, age 80, left this world on July 21, 2018, following a courageous battle with COPD and congestive heart disease.

Richard was born January 23, 1938 in Waco, Texas to parents Charles Benjamin Welch and Mae Mizer Welch.  He married Mona Morgan on July 21, 1956 and lived in Houston and Dallas, Texas.

Richard worked in the car wash industry, manufacturing, sales and service for over 40 years.  He owned and operated several car washes throughout the years, but Pirate Car Wash was special to him.

He was a member of the First Christian Church, Granbury, Texas, and the Southwestern Car Wash Association.  His hobby was rebuilding and restoring classic cars and trucks.  He enjoyed classic car shows and delivering “Meal on Wheels.”

He was preceded in death by his parents, half sister, Lucille Cockrell, and five of his closes friends.

He is survived by his wife, Mona Welch and three sons; Kenneth Welch ( Laurel), Bryan Welch (Beth), Darrell Welch (Shay) and ten grandchildren; Shawn Welch, Lance Welch, Ashley Welch, Jordan Welch, Blake Welch, Ethan Welch, Andrew Welch,  Brayton Grace Welch, Barret Welch and Beckett Welch.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the First Christian Church, on July 28, 2018 at 5:00 PM.

Ona Joy Walton Terry

Ona Joy Walton Terry was born November 13, 1921 in Houston Texas and passed away on Wednesday July 18, 2018 in Mansfield Texas at the age of 96.

Service:  2:00 P.M. Tuesday July 24, 2018, Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury, TX.

She was married to Albert Marshall Terry for 41 years.  He passed away in 1987. They had lived in Henderson Texas where he was a funeral director and embalmer. 

They moved to Granbury and bought a partnership in a funeral home and later established their own funeral home known as Terry Funeral Chapel. 

Joy Terry graduated with two degrees from the University of Houston.  Later she also added a Medical Technician degree.  She taught public schools in various cities for 11 years and in 1958 joined the faculty of Tarleton State College, now Tarleton State University where she taught Chemistry for 21 years. She retired from Tarleton as an Associate Professor Emeritus of Chemistry in 1979.

She went to work for Brown & Root (a division of Halliburton Company) at the Comanche Peak Nuclear Plant.  Halliburton is a company that will match any donation made by an employee or retiree to a college, university of charitable organization. Mrs. Terry set up an endowment at Tarleton Chemistry Department under this matching program and has regularly contributed to it. The endowment over the years has provided scholarships to many deserving Chemistry students. 

She retired from Brown & Root in 1984 and she and her husband moved to Arlington. 

She was a member of the Arlington First Baptist Church, the American Association of University Professors, The American Association of University Women, the Arlington Women’s Club and the Arlington YMCA. 

She was a huge believer in exercise keeping the body healthy and attended the YMCA weekly.  She also attended the Church School of the First Christian Church of Arlington where she loved the class in which she participated. 

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Albert Terry.  She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Fitzpatrick, grandchildren and spouses, Stephen and Beth Fitzpatrick and Angela and Jeff Moberley, as well as four adorable great-grandchildren, Megan, Sarah and William Fitzpatrick and Chase Moberley.   She is also survived by a sister, Johnelle Mixon and a niece, Janet Smith-Marek and two great nieces, Shaelyn and Brianne, as well as two great great nephews.

Laurel Pirkle, 74, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018. Service: 10 A.M. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Granbury. Interment: Acton Cemetery. Laurel was born January 3, 1944 in Adamsville, AL to James Marshall and Virginia Howell Pirkle. He graduated from Southwest Texas State College with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and graduated from East Texas State University with a Master of Business Administration degree. He was a State Farm insurance agent for 38 plus years. He married Carol Langley on December 12, 2012 in Granbury. Laurel was a member of First Baptist Church in Granbury and an instructor of Business at Weatherford College for 13 years. He started the Brazos Valley Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, 40 year member of the Kiwanis Club of Lake Granbury, Granbury City Council for 10 years, Planning and Zoning Commission for 15 years and the Granbury Municipal Utility Advisory Board. Laurel loved to go fly fishing in Colorado and collect Dr. Pepper, barber shop and gas and oil company memorabilia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Glenda Pirkle in 2007; and brothers, Gary and Mike Pirkle.

Survivors: Wife, Carol Pirkle; children, Laurie Moncivais and husband Ben, Kenna Riley and husband Todd, Jessica Miller; grandchildren, Caleb Moran, Joaquin Moncivais, Karrington Riley, Quinlan Riley; brother, Carl Pirkle and wife Elaine.

Karla Gail Vaughan

Karla Gail Vaughan (60) of Granbury, TX passed at her home on July 18th, 2018 after a valiant fight with a re-occurring cancer. Born in Midland, Texas to Forrest and Dorris Vaughan, Karla re-located to Granbury in her later years to take care of her ailing mother.  She believed that it was her true calling and she took it very seriously. 

Karla was loved immensely by all that knew her.  She loved working with plants, collecting and designing driftwood sculptures, making unique Christmas decorations and was extremely proficient at finding great bargains at garage sales!

Her real passion however, was being active in the Granbury Relay for Life organization.  She brought hope and courage to so many fighting the same disease and was co-chairperson for the event in 2013/2014.

Karla was preceded in death by her father and mother and leaves behind 1 sister, Karron Vaughan of Canyon Lake, TX as well as 2 step-brothers and their families and numerous cousins. 

Visitation will be held at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury on August 3rd from 6-8 pm with funeral service held August 4th at 2 pm.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to the Granbury Relay for Life program.

The family would like to acknowledge Kindred Hospice and all of her doctors for their compassion and loving care. Karla will be missed by many.

James Frank Dolan Jr.

James Frank Dolan Jr. passed away Thursday, July 19, 2018 in Fort Worth.  Celebration of Life: 3:00 P.M. Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the American Legion 491.

James, Jr. was born in Norwich, NY to James and Patsy Dolan on May 25, 1961. James was Jimmy to his family and Bisket to his friends. He was a rambunctious older brother as a child, but always had a close connection to his three sisters.  Jimmy served in the U.S. Navy.  He was a truck driver. Jimmy loved being an American Legion Rider. He loved bikes and was a Harley owner and rider.  Jimmy was a larger than life character, always the life of the party and never met a stranger. Jimmy’s creed was live fast and die hard.  He was a special soul.  He was preceded in death by his dad, James Dolan, Sr. and his mom, Patsy Wall.

Survivors:  sisters, Theresa Martin and her husband Tony, Vicki Dolan, Linda Corbell; nephews, Christopher, Junior, Kevin, Stephen; and more friends than we could name.


James Michael Fortson

James Michael Fortson, 53, of Fort Worth, Texas passed away July 20, 2018. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Lakeside Baptist Church, Granbury.

James was born on August 8, 1964 in Fort Worth, Texas to James and Sherry Smith Fortson. James loved fishing, hunting and cooking. He was a jokester and enjoyed making people laugh. He would sing jingles and make up songs. James was artistic and enjoyed drawing. He would post his Bible studies on Facebook. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. James was preceded in death by his father, James Odell Fortson.

James is survived by his loving wife: Paula Fortson; daughter: Mollie Kay Fortson; mother: Sherry Fortson Smith, brothers:  Steven Kyle Fortson and Robert Paul Fortson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Ellen Drapela

Mary Ellen Drapela, age 94, passed away June 6, 2018 at the Assisted Living facility at Jacaranda Trace in Venice, Florida where she received care in her final days.

Services will be held at 11:00 am, August 4, 2018 at Wiley Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Granbury.

Mary was born in Rising Star, Texas on August 25, 1923. She and her family moved around the Breckenridge, Texas area where her father worked the oil fields and later in Rochester, Texas where he worked as a truck driver for the local bakery. Mary lived through the hard times of the Great Depression. When her father decided to take up farming, Mary helped with picking cotton and whatever else was required to support the family. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Mary went to work at the Ft. Worth aircraft plant where the B-24 Liberator, a long-range bomber, was being manufactured by Consolidated Aircraft. Mary was a parts inspector and checked metal components for cracks and flaws. Because there was a shortage of railroad staff during the war, Mary learned Morse code which was a job requirement for train depot operators. In 1944 Mary started work for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. She moved around to various train depots in south Texas until she was assigned a permanent job in Blessing. In 1949 she met her husband, Lester C. Drapela, at a community center dance in Blessing. Lester had just received his degree in electrical engineering from the University of Houston. He had served with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1942-46, seeing action in the Pacific Theater.

Mary moved to Port Lavaca where Lester was working for Alcoa. She continued to work at the rail depot in Blessing until early 1954, after which time she had her first child, Larry. In 1956, when they were living in Iowa, Mary had her second child, David.

Mary and Lester lived with their two sons in various Alcoa locations. In 1967, they were relocated to Pittsburgh which was company headquarters. They lived there until 1983, the year Lester retired. Later that year they moved to Granbury, Texas to be closer to family. Lester died on November 3, 2011. Mary moved from Granbury to Venice, Florida in early 2014 to be closer to her son and his wife.

Mary loved her sons and their families and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. David’s wife Betsi spent summers in Texas with her children Stephanie and Jason.

Mary also enjoyed quilting and crewelwork and was a good bridge player.

Mary is survived by her two sons, Larry and his wife Susan of Florida, David and his wife Betsi, two grandchildren Stephanie and Jason, four great grandchildren Liam, Freya, Gabriel David and Simone Rose.

Jack Berry

Jack Berry, 82, of Stephenville, died Thursday, July 12, 2018, in Stephenville.

Funeral services: 2:00 PM Sunday, July 15th at Cowboy Church of Erath County with Werth Mayes and Weldon Branham officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday at Stephenville Funeral Home.

Jack was born on September 28, 1935 in Granbury to the late A. L. and Hixie Gray Berry. He married Alicia Poston on September 7, 1957 in Stephenville.

Jack received his bachelor’s degree in Agronomy from Texas A&M University, and for over 30 years operated Poston Feed Mill in Stephenville. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, ECLA and Whataburger Coffee Club.  Jack served his country in the U. S. Air Force. 

He was a farmer and rancher, and he and Alicia has spent the past 60 years in Stephenville.

He loved to farm and ranch, spend time with his grandchildren, tend to cattle, and loved his dogs.

Jack is survived by his wife; Alicia; daughter, Becky and husband Richard Wall of Stephenville; sons, Jeff Berry of Stephenville and Robert and wife Angela Berry of Lufkin; grandchildren R. J. Wall, Kristen and husband Danny Sellers, Kayla Berry, Chelsea and husband Benny Regenold, Sarah and husband Matthew Henderson, and Jacob Berry; great grandchild, Kingsley Berry; brothers, Bill and wife Judy Berry, Jim and wife Martha Berry; sisters, Jane Johnson, Dorothy and husband Bill Lewis, and Renee and husband Lynn Dudensing; sister-in-love, Rosalie Berry; and brother-in-love Lynn Nix; and several nieces and nephews

Besides his parents, Jack was also preceded in death by brothers, Bob Berry, Harold Wayne Berry and his wife Merlene Berry and; and sister, Joyce Berry Nix.

Willa Dean Callaway

Willa Dean Callaway went to the loving arms of Jesus on July 27, 2018.  Her celebration of life service was Monday, July 30th at 11:00 am, at First Presbyterian Church in Granbury, Texas.

“Willie” was married to the love of her life, Dallas Callaway, for 67 years, until his passing in 2015.  Although beginning their life in Canadian Texas, they raised their three children while they lived in Amarillo, Texas where all the while being involved in her children’s lives and activities.  Willie was active with PTA, Campfire girls, Hidden Falls Ranch Christian Youth Camp, Kids Inc., Meals on Wheels, Republican Women, and was a docent for the arts and dedicated to service in her church.  Along with her love and devotion to her family she was a mom to many dogs and a supporter of many animal charities.

Willie and Dallas moved to Granbury, Texas in 1994 to enjoy life living on the lake.  She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and received the lifetime achievement award for her service.  Willie was a long time member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter GV, bible study, book club and loved being with her many dear friends.  It is her selfless, Christ like compassionate service that will be her legacy.

She is survived by her children, Kirby Callaway and wife Teresa,  daughters: DeAnn and husband Jeff Krakos,  Jana and husband Calvin Newkirk, Brother Lovell Lee and wife Dora Kate from Arkansas,  Grandchildren: Jason Callaway, Blaine Callaway, Hunter Callaway, Lacey and husband Colin Baudin, Brent Goodman and wife Madison, Alison Krakos, Nicole Krakos, Preston Coyle and Jordan Coyle and extended family and precious friends.

Dennis Ray Minter, 78, of Granbury, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018 in Granbury. Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Acton Baptist Church. Interment: Acton Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury.

Dennis was born August 16, 1939 in Fort Worth to Charles and Bertha Stanley Minter. He married Joyce Mayfield on June 7, 1963 in Fort Worth. He was an aircraft planner for Lockheed Martin and retired after 30 years of service. Dennis loved the ranch he lived on, his cows, dancing, skiing, visiting and telling stories with his grandchildren. He was a member of Acton Baptist Church, never met a stranger and was a fan of the TCU Horned Frogs.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jana Faye Cavender.

Survivors: Wife of 55 years, Joyce Mayfield Minter; sons, Stanley Minter and wife Terri and Steven Minter and wife Amanda; grandchildren, Seth, Erick, Ben, Jessica, Julia, Brynn, Alea, Alexis and Rylie; sister, Virginia Nell Lee and husband M.B.; brother, Charles “Spud” Minter and wife Debbie; aunts, Shirley Minter and Jessie Minter; numerous nieces and cousins.
