Stanley Louis Lippincott, of Granbury, passed away early Wednesday morning, Dec. 12, 2018 at a local hospital. Memorial Service: 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at Wiley Funeral Home Chapel, Granbury.
He leaves behind his childhood love of his life, Carol, after being married 30 years.
He was born in Salem, NJ and lived in the same house in Pennsville, NJ. until he went to work with DuPont. He graduated from Salem High School, graduated from Bucknell University with a degree in Chemistry and belonged to the Delta Upsilon fraternity there. He worked summers at DuPont, Chambers Works. He worked for DuPont from 1952-1988. During that time he traveled extensively for the company and lived in Brazil for a couple years.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his two children Alisa Morkides, husband Chris Morkides and daughter Kina from Delaware and Stephen Lippincott of Oregon and son Aaron from Austrailia. He also has three stepsons, Barry Chaikin, Karl Chaikin and Scott Chaikin all in Dallas and granddaughter Kayla Chaikin.
His big passion in life was baseball. He and Carol attended Spring Training for over 25 years every March. He has an extensive baseball card collection and other baseball memorabilia. He always enjoyed the month of August in Grand Cayman, snorkeling and reading, reading, reading. He also enjoyed playing Hand and Foot with friends every week. He fell in love with Carol’s collies and they had several through the years. His favorite was Toby.
DuPont sold their explosives business to Explosives Technology International, Inc in January 1988. He was instrumental in developing the information leading to the sale. He served as Planning and Development Director for ETI until August 1988.
After retiring he co-founded Explosives Educational Services Inc. serving as Managing Director since its inception. Director of International Society of Explosives Engineers for eight years and Charter member of the ISEE Lone Star Chapter Managing Editor of the ISEE Blaster’s Handbook. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Award Service Award (ISEE’s highest honor)
He belonged to Friends of the Library, the Historical Society, the Opera Guild, Granbury Brigade,Christmas for Children and Kiwanis. He was an Eagle Scout. He enjoyed being active in the community, and loved living on the lake with the ever changing scenery and he loved living in Granbury.
He was preceded in death by his parents Stanley L. and Clara Mulford Lippincott.
